Bert Bornblum
Bert Bornblum, Philanthropist, Memphis, TN
Bert Bornblum and his brother David emigrated from Poland in 1938. They lost their parents and two brothers in the Holocaust. Bornblum came to Memphis and turned his energies to education. He established the University of Memphis Bornblum Judaic Studies Center and the Bornblum Institute at LeMoyne-Owen College, which sponsors guest lecturers and scholarships at The Bornblum Solomon Schechter Day School. The Bert Bornblum Library was named in his honor at Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Macon Cove campus.
