Civil Rights Curriculum JCDS 8th Grade Class
The following are a collection of resources that deal directly with the civil rights movement in America and the period preceding it. Some of the resources offer a general overview of the historical period, and others focus more directly on the Boston experience.
I recommend starting to think about your unit on Civil Rights in Boston with this unit. It focuses on 3 units: Emmett Till, Boston School Desegregation and Voting Rights.
This will take you directly to the chapter in the Boston Public Schools Civil Rights Curriculum that deals with Boston Desegration in school. If you look at the "materials" section in each lesson, you will see that the video "Eyes on the Prize" is used quite extensively as we talked about today.
