More About the School

River City High School of Leadership and Service opened in 2006.  It is a small school and a member of the Coalition of Essential Schools.

River City High School is beginning its work with Facing History.   After attending a seminar in summer 2008, Twana Hinton will be teaching a full semester Holocaust and Human Behavior course.  The school is exploring several years of expanding their use of Facing History over the years.  One goal is that all students will take a full semester Facing History course before they graduate.  The school hopes to use Facing History resources on the Civil Rights Movement (Eyes on the Prize, Choices in Little Rock) to complement River City High School's existing relationship with the National Civil Rights Museum.

In addition to Facing History and Ourselves, River City High School's partners include the National Civil Rights Museum and Starbucks.
