evaluationWe have had an ambitious and carefully planned research and evaluation agenda for more than three decades.  Independent researchers and Facing History evaluators have carried out more than 90 studies to assess the effectiveness of the program worldwide.  These studies have built an extensive body of knowledge, while providing critical information that staff uses to refine programming.

Following each of our seminars and workshops, teachers are asked to evaluate their experiences and the effect they expect the training to have on their capacity to teach the content and methods presented. Studies consistently demonstrate that Facing History professional development has a powerful effect on teachers, promoting teachers' sense of efficacy in using the program to foster their students' academic engagement and motivation, historical understanding, social and ethical awareness, and civic responsibility. Other studies have demonstrated the long-term effect of the program on teachers and students. A major experimental study was launched in 2006 to provide additional evidence of the program's effectiveness.
