2008 Annual Report: Redefining Education
Years of research on the impact of Facing History on students, teachers, communities, schools, and districts drives our conviction that education and commitment to civic life are critical to building a humane and informed citizenry. Facing History has developed a growing number of partnerships with leading civic organizations and institutions of higher education in order to promote this essential idea. We are bringing together scholars to encourage new dialogue and enrich our material for students, inspiring cities and school districts to reevaluate their approach to teaching and learning, and empowering teachers in training with important skills and ideas about engaging their students. Our participation in conferences, sharing of research and best practices, hosting community-wide events, and conducting strategic public outreach are helping people learn how they can make a difference in their communities and beyond.
